Vows are exchanged beneath mature oaks with rows of vines stretching toward the Mayacamas Mountains. The setting feels relaxed from the very beginning, inviting guests to settle in, take a deep breath, and linger a little longer than they planned. After the ceremony, glasses of local wine find waiting hands as everyone drifts onto the terrace. Conversations bounce between the vineyard rows while the mountains quietly steal the spotlight, trading bright afternoon light for the warm honey-colored glow that makes photographers smile and guests wonder if one more photo is really too many. Dinner follows inside the ballroom, where soaring windows keep the landscape close enough that the vineyards never quite disappear, even after the dancing begins.

Getting Ready

Fairview Valley of the Moon sits in Santa Rosa’s Oakmont neighborhood, where the landscape begins doing introductions before you ever reach the clubhouse. Broad stretches of green roll toward Hood Mountain, mature oaks break up the horizon, and suddenly Sonoma feels less vineyard-and-barrel-room and more open, leafy countryside. The property doesn’t need much fuss to establish the mood; it gives you room to breathe, a mountain on the horizon, and plenty of reasons for the photographer to suggest, “Let’s go outside.”

Ceremony

For the biggest reveal, head to the pond. The ceremony site sits out on the course, with water in front, rolling landscape beyond and Hood Mountain rising in the distance. A bridge and weeping trees add softness around the edges, but the scale stays wonderfully open.

It’s the kind of aisle where you see your guests, then the person waiting for you, then—because the view is being a bit of a show-off—the mountain behind them. Guests get that same layered perspective from their chairs, and the distance from the clubhouse gives the ceremony its own little world before everyone moves back toward the party. The venue also offers a second ceremony option closer to the main event spaces.

Appetizers & Cocktails

Back at the clubhouse, the patio changes the scale completely. After all that open landscape, cocktails feel closer and more social here. Guests gather outside the banquet room with drinks in hand, slipping easily between the terrace and interior rather than being sent off to some disconnected holding zone. Real weddings use this patio specifically for cocktail hour, making the transition from ceremony to reception refreshingly straightforward.

Dinner Reception

Step through the doors and the landscape doesn’t disappear. Floor-to-ceiling windows keep the surrounding greenery and mountain setting visible from the banquet room, giving dinner an indoor setting without visually cutting guests off from Sonoma.

This is where Fairview’s simplicity becomes an advantage. The room isn’t asking florals, linens and candlelight to compete with elaborate architecture; instead, those details get to set the personality. Outside is all trees, water and mountain. Inside becomes yours.

Dancing & Merriment

As daylight disappears from the windows, the room naturally changes gears. Dinner tables become the perimeter, music takes over the center, and the adjoining patio becomes the perfect escape hatch for anyone needing a cool-air-and-catch-up moment before heading back inside. One room stays connected to the next, which keeps the party together without requiring everyone to do exactly the same thing.

Send-Off

Then it’s back outside, where the landscape that looked soft and green in daylight has gone almost completely to silhouette. The oaks become dark shapes against the Sonoma sky, the mountain retreats into the distance, and the clubhouse glows behind you.
