Nobody accidentally ends up at Martis Camp. You arrive because someone let you in on one of California’s best-kept secrets—and by the end of the weekend, you’ll be doing the same. The road twists through soaring Jeffrey pines and house-sized granite boulders before the forest quietly parts, revealing a landscape so breathtaking it almost feels staged. Car windows roll down. Cameras appear almost on cue. Conversations trail off. Someone inevitably whispers, “Are you kidding me?” The ceremony hasn’t even started, and the Sierra has already stolen the spotlight.

The ceremony doesn’t compete with the landscape—it simply borrows it. Guests settle onto the Event Lawn beneath a cathedral of pines while layers of granite, forest, and distant peaks stretch far beyond the last row of chairs. After the vows, nobody rushes inside. Champagne finds its way into waiting hands, conversations drift toward the fire pits, and the terrace becomes the place everyone lingers “for just one more minute” as the Sierra trades brilliant blue skies for that honey-colored glow photographers quietly hope for. By dinner, the Camp Lodge glows from within. Timber beams, native stone, flickering candlelight, and walls of glass make it feel as though the forest has simply wandered indoors for the evening.

Martis Camp is at its best with 100–180 guests, where the property has room to breathe and every corner—from the Event Lawn to the Camp Lodge and mountain terraces—can be fully enjoyed without ever feeling oversized. Saturday celebrations generally begin around $40,000, with customized pricing based on guest count, catering, and the scope of the event. Because weddings are intentionally limited at this private club, couples should plan well in advance to secure their preferred date.

Here’s the funny thing about Martis Camp: it has no interest in being upstaged. The Jeffrey pines have been perfecting this view for generations, and those granite boulders have more personality than most centerpieces ever will. Borrow your palette from the mountains instead—textured linens, gathered greenery, warm woods, candlelight, and florals that look as though they could have been gathered on a morning walk. The scenery is already doing the flirting. Your flowers just need to join the conversation.

Wedding Day Blueprint

Martis Camp is what happens when Tahoe decides to dress for dinner. Set across 2,177 acres of Martis Valley between Truckee and North Lake Tahoe, the private community pairs towering pines and forested Sierra ridgelines with polished mountain architecture and wide-open views. It is undeniably grand, but the mountains keep it from becoming too impressed with itself.

Getting Ready

This is a morning made for big windows, mountain light and a little extra time built into the schedule. Once dressed, step outside and the portrait locations practically start volunteering: sunlit pines, stone walls, winding paths and those long Sierra views.

Against that much green, wedding white looks especially good. Nature can be such a show-off.

Ceremony

The ceremony lawn puts the mountains exactly where they belong: front and center.

Guests face layers of pine forest climbing toward the ridgeline, while the lawn creates a clean sweep of green beneath it. The photographs show why restraint works so beautifully here—low, meadowy florals soften the aisle and ceremony edge without building a wall between anyone and that view.

Appetizers & Cocktails

From the lawn, the celebration shifts onto the broad stone terrace, and this is where Martis Camp loosens its tie a little.

Cocktail tables and umbrellas scatter across the patio beneath café lights, with stone walls tracing the edge and the forested mountains still filling the horizon. Guests can grab a drink, find a patch of shade and settle into that delicious Tahoe combination of sunshine and crisp mountain air.

And because the landscape remains visible from practically every angle, nobody feels as though they’ve left the pretty part behind.

Dinner Reception

Dinner can stay closely connected to the outdoors or move into one of Martis Camp’s event spaces. Published club materials identify the Camp Lodge’s dining rooms and terraces, the Family Barn, and Lookout Lodge among its special-event locations.

The design cue here is fairly obvious: don’t fight the mountain.

Natural wood, stone, candlelight and relaxed florals feel at home because they borrow from what’s already outside. This is Tahoe elegance without the antlers-and-plaid memo.

Dancing & Merriment

After dinner, the polished mountain-club manners can officially disappear.

Martis Camp was built around gathering—its venues and amenities range from the Camp Lodge to the Family Barn, an 18,000-square-foot social hub with indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces. Wherever the party lands, there’s room for music to get louder, jackets to come off and the evening to feel considerably less civilized than it did during dinner.

Send-Off

Eventually, the café lights are glowing against a very dark Tahoe sky, the temperature has dropped just enough to make everyone reach for a wrap, and those mountains that dominated the afternoon have become silhouettes.
